Jurors for this joyful event have been selected from the neighborhood arts community. Mary Ritchey, Arts Advocate, has lived in Spring Valley for over 15 years and is degreed in fine arts and communications from Northwestern University with continued education at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Prior to curating her latest collections, she was lead art consultant for Kay-Hannah Associates in San Francisco, CA and freelance art advisor for Charles Schwab, Inc Nationwide. She previously served on the board for Washington Project for the Arts (WPA). Jessica Naresh is a neighbor and art consultant with over 10 years of experience placing artwork in homes, businesses and public spaces in the DC area. She is a co-owner of The Art Registry, a full-service art consultancy that sources, frames and installs artwork that is uniquely tailored to each client’s needs. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Project for the Arts from 2012-2018 and co-chaired the 2013-15 Art Auction Galas. She served on the 2016 Art Selection Committee for the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Art Bank Collection. An art major in college, Robin Breckenridge applied her graphic design knowledge and founded Washington-based Breckenridge Design Group over thirty years ago. Busy with the marketing, branding and design business and raising two boys, it took a while for her to get back to painting. Abstraction is an inherent ingredient in graphic design and informs her acrylic canvases that explore color, shape and energy. Caitlin Wheeler is a contemporary abstract expressionist living and working in Spring Valley. She creates large scale abstract paintings characterized by bold graphics, a rich palette and playful textures. Caitlin’s works are currently featured in private homes, retail shops, restaurants, and offices in the Washington-area. Stefanie Stark is a contemporary painter who paints as often as possible, getting lost in the creative process. Her subtle blending of colors and signature drips provide a depth in each piece she hopes moves viewers even for a moment. Stefanie’s paintings have been shown in gallery spaces in Washington, Maryland and Virginia and reside in private collections throughout the United States and in the UK. A native Washingtonian, Stefanie now resides in Bethesda with her husband and two children.
Please encourage your youth to participate in this community event, fostering a sense of artistic curiosity and neighborhood pride. Questions should be directed to Sharon Amorosi at info@theworkroomcooperative.com
